Occupational therapy

Occupational therapy helps children take part in the everyday activities that matter to them: playing, learning, and looking after themselves.

What it can involve

  • Fine motor skills like grasping, drawing, and using utensils
  • Sensory needs and regulation
  • Self-care such as dressing and mealtimes
  • Confidence with play and new activities

How it fits your child’s plan

Occupational therapy goals sit within your child’s plan and can be practiced at home with caregiver guidance.

Every child’s plan is different. Our team will talk through what this program could look like for your child.

Questions families ask

Getting started

Where should we start?

Call our team at 651-441-6245 or email info@kidscareinc.com. We’ll talk about your child, answer your questions, and explain the intake process, including any assessment or documentation needed.

Does my child need a new assessment?

We first review your child’s current Comprehensive Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation (CMDE). If a valid CMDE is already in place, we can move on to creating an Individual Treatment Plan.

A new CMDE is completed only when needed.

What should I have ready when I call?

It helps to have your child’s most recent evaluation, if they have one, and your Minnesota Health Care Programs or insurance information. You don’t need everything in hand to start the conversation.

Coverage

Can you help me understand coverage?

Contact our team with your Minnesota Health Care Programs or insurance information. We can help you understand the next steps for checking coverage and eligibility before services begin.

What is EIDBI?

Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention (EIDBI) is a Minnesota benefit for eligible children with autism spectrum disorder or related conditions. Our team can talk you through how it relates to your child’s care.
